Jennie Oswald

Chair of Trustees

Jennie has a wealth of knowledge and expertise around financial control and management, and is EMEA Financial Controller at the Macquarie Group. Jennie has volunteered previously for charities that support modern slavery, and wanted to continue focusing on this area when looking for a trustee role.  She was drawn to Causeway by the role it plays in the community, and the difference it is making to people’s lives.  In 2023 Jennie stepped into the Chair of Trustees role on an interim basis.

“I was attracted to Causeway because of the direction the charity is going in, and in my role as a financial controller, I felt there was a real opportunity for me to bring my skillset to the organisation and help drive its mission forward.”

Sebastien Baugh

Sebastien Baugh

Trustee

Sebastien began his career as a physiotherapist, and worked clinically for over ten years.

He then transitioned into the field of public health and local government as he was committed to making an impact on people's lives and communities.

His passion now lies in addressing health inequalities and advocating for the support of vulnerable individuals in our society.

"Causeway supports some of the most vulnerable members of our society. I hope to use my experience and skills in addressing inequalities to support the charity with this important work."

Dave Gore

Dave Gore

Trustee

Dave has held numerous safeguarding positions across a number of charitable organisations, including within the youth sector, and more recently within the humanitarian sector where he was responsible for leading safeguarding and culture change projects around the world. These included implementing safeguarding best practice across projects based in Iraq, and working for a charity within the UK that supports refugees, including survivors of modern slavery.

"My time working within the humanitarian sector exposed me to the conditions that people are forced to flee from that makes them vulnerable to becoming victims of modern slavery. I have been aware of the amazing work Causeway does within local communities, and  it is a privilege to be able to support this vital work as a trustee."

Md Mominul Hamid

Trustee

Md is an asylum seeker and survivor of modern slavery and human trafficking. He brings lived experience and survivor voice and perspective to his role as trustee. He is passionate about helping others, and has won numerous awards and plaudits for his campaign work around accessing higher education for refugees and asylum seekers, as well as for the  support he offers to vulnerable people in his community.

My experience of the system motivated me to study law and to join the Trustee Board of Causeway so that I could learn more about the sector, and to provide insight from my lived experience of trafficking.

I am studying law at Northumbria University and am passionate about campaigning for the rights of refugees and asylum seekers.’

Faye Smith

Trustee

For the past 15 years Faye has run her own marketing and PR consultancy where she has specialised in amplifying the messages of charities in the media. She came across Causeway at a women’s networking event where she was touched by the powerful story of a woman who had been forced into sexual exploitation. Faye immediately wanted to help, and became a trustee as she champions the cause and shares the values of the organisation.

‘Life is about loving and helping others, especially the vulnerable and often overlooked people in our societies.’
